News Flash

A Canadian adventure is about to begin.

I am leaving tomorrow for what promises to be a very special journey... and I still need to pack. I'll be driving due north to Jasper, Alberta where I will get on a train that will let me off in Sudbury Ontario two days later, cedar boughs and all… 😉 From there I will be traveling down to Bracebridge, Rene Caisse's home town.  I will be re-visiting the sights and hopefully will be able to see what remains of the display that used to reside at the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Room, in the Octagon House. It was moved to the Rene Caisse Memorial Theater...

…And then the real adventure begins, up north. It is a Vision quest and fast with Grandmother Isabelle and Grandmother Margaret and I feel the earth moving me east like a little leaf in a big river.

Stay tuned for part 2 - Halfway to the train station - Fairmont BC and hot springs!

The online orders will continue to be processed while I am away by an amazing team that has come together in the most uncanny way over lunch today (well, there was about a ton of preparation for this meeting :D) - Anais, Kristin and Kimberly.  There will be only a brief delay in shipping orders received after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26.  The next shipping date will be  Monday, June 1.  The best way to contact us between May 26 and June 10, 2015 will be via the contact form on our website. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause!

And now it is 10 pm and I had better pack...

Thank you, customers! Enjoy your Essiac. 🙂

Open Source Essiac Information

The term 'open source'  is based upon "sharing information from publicly available sources (as opposed to covert or clandestine sources)."

I have been following a Facebook group called the Rene Caisse Essiac Tea Users Group.  It has been quite a journey and has really brought home a few realizations.  Facebook is like a slice of the greater world and … although free speech is a precious thing, things can sometimes get lost in the translation….or buried in the posts! Just say no – to GMO

Yesterday morning the sun came up pink, ushering in the autumn equinox.  I started the new season learning more about GMOs than I'd bargained. It was the last day to view the newly released documentary Genetic Roulette for free - I took notes so I could share this really important info. Update:  here is a link where you can still watch it -

Genetically modified organisms - GMO - are created when the DNA of one species is forced into the DNA of another species.  There are a couple of different varieties that have been patented.

Herbicide-tolerant crops (Roundup-ready). You can spray them with Roundup and it doesn't kill them but it kills the weeds.

Insecticide-producing crops (BT, for bacillus thuringiensis) kills insects when they eat the plant.

Mind you, GMO food is not about better flavor, nutrition, or saving money at the grocery store. Monsanto  marketed this seed to farmers for better crop yields and increased profit.  However, that hasn't panned out.  In fact, GMOs are turning out to be bad for everybody but Monsanto. But, the citizens of California once again are coming forward with a unique proposition that could change things for the better and lead the way for the rest of the nation.  Read More →

Creative solutions for micro-businesses!

Lately I've been reading about some really cool affordable ideas being put to action for small-time entrepreneurs.  The first one is called SQFT (Square Foot). Its based out of San Francisco and just starting up.  Their mission is geared toward small-time vendors who  couldn't afford to rent traditional retail space but COULD afford a fraction of that amount for a fraction of the time. They are putting them together with underutilized spaces in non-traditional settings. Its a win-win-win Read More →

Hands-on training will be provided on how to make the various Essiac formulae that Rene is known to have used. Mali will be available for private consultations.

  • The original Native American eight-herb formula – lessons from the source.
  • An inside perspective on Rene Caisse, the real person.
  • Recommended treatment protocols.
  • Essiac in your own backyard.
  • The future of Essiac – what can be done to develop Rene Caisse’s legacy.

Canadian nurse Rene Caisse (1888 – 1978) was known for her research and development of an indigenous herbal tea into the combination therapy she dubbed ‘Essiac’ – her surname reversed. Encouraged by eight doctors who petitioned the Minister of Health for Ontario to allow her the opportunity to prove her therapy, Essiac attracted national and international attention initially during the 1930’s, when she operated a cancer clinic in Bracebridge, her hometown in Muskoka, Ontario, and again in 1977 when Homemaker’s magazine published the article, ‘Could Essiac halt Cancer?’

Today the wealth of anecdotal evidence and access to the internet has ensured that Essiac has become a household word, with a wide variety of formulae available for sale. Always conscious of the need for excellence, Mali Klein has been researching and writing about Essiac since 1993 and has co-written four books on the subject.  She is also curator of the world’s largest body of Essiac history, the Sheila Snow Fraser Essiac Archive collection.

Cell phones and cancer – new evidence

Its starting to get out that cell phones are actually more hazardous to your health than previously publicized.  Dr. Devra Lee Davis gives a talk on April 4, 2012 before the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences that documents and describes how cell phones are dangerous to have any closer than 5/8 inch from your body, asnd how they are especially dangerous for young children.  I had no idea there were iphone apps for babies in their cribs....baaad idea.  Wow.
