...Did you know that calcium from dairy really doesn't help prevent osteoporosis? Dr. Michael Klaper, a medical doctor, presented a lot of very compelling info about the typical American diet in a video entitled Food That Kills.
Dr. Kalper states that osteoporosis is not a case of calcium deficiency, its due to a protein excess. Osteoporosis is virtually nonexistent in China, where dairy is not consumed at all. So much for drinking milk for bone health...turns out its much better to get calcium from grains, greens, fruits and vegetables, because if you have too much protein, it actually has the negative effect of forcing calcium out. Dr. Klaper is a practitioner of nutritional and preventive medicine in Santa Rosa, CA at the TrueNorth Health Center, which is a nutritionally-based medical clinic specializing in "therapeutic fasting and health improvement through a whole-foods, plant-based diet." I am glad to see a growing number of medical doctors that are realizing the importance of diet and its role in the prevention and treatment of so many of our modern day health problems. He also stresses that dietary changes often result in a being able to taper back on medications. A good thing! A sign of health returning. This is also observed when taking Essiac.
